Born into slavery around 162 in what is now Lyon, France, Blandina was a servant in a Christian household who deeply embraced her faith. During severe Roman persecutions in 177, she was arrested alongside other local Christians. Despite facing extreme, exhaustive physical tortures, which including scourging, exposure to wild beasts, being roasted in an iron chair, and being tossed by a wild bull, she refused to renounce her faith, repeatedly declaring, "I am a Christian, and we commit no wrongdoing". She was ultimately martyred with a gladiator's sword later that year.She is the patron saint of young girls and people who are falsely accused.
